I've posted pictures of friends we've worked with in ministry in Tucuman. Miriam and Alberto have been active with different programs at church. The Zona Oeste Baptist church had an annex on their property for a few years. Miriam helps with the children's Sunday School program and the adolescent youth group. Alberto volunteers his skills as an electrician for varios church projects.

When we met Miriam she was 16 years old and a new believer. Alberto was also a new Christian when we met him. Dick officiated at their wedding. It's been exciting to see how they've grown in the Lord. Daniela was 15 when we met her. She was a neighbor and started going to church when the church met in our house. Daniela and Javier met at church and were married a few years later. Javier has been one of the pastors on the pastoral team that Dick has been working with.

Betty has become a facilitator for the Spanish Interpersonal Skills workshops and we've traveled to Uruguay, Bolivia and varios provinces in Argentina together to facilitate workshops. She will be coordinating the workshop in Montevideo,Uruguay this coming March. Her mother Eva has been active in various women's activities. Sabrina is one of Andrea's good friends.

I hope to post some more pictures soon. :-)

Friends in Argentina

I'd like to tell you about some of our friends in Argentina. I posted a few pictures the other day and I'd like to post a few more now. We are thankful for all the friendships that we've formed in the past 20 plus years.

Nancy Rodriguez and I have become very good friends and have been keeping in touch by phone and internet while we're here in Chicago. Nancy is a physical therapist who I saw just 3-5 days a week for physical therapy for a year and a half. She and her fiancee opened their own physical therapy office. We donated pictures for each of the rooms and you can see one of them on the wall in this picture. Nancy recommended I see a rheumatologist and recommended who to see. Thanks to her help I have been able to deal with the arthritis symptoms and have learned exercises, stretches, etc. We've shared our personal struggles with each other and encouraged each other through good times and hard times. She plans to come to the US in May to visit us. :-)

As we get used to living in Chicago during our family leave we are thinking about our friends in Tucuman and keeping in touch with as many as we can. I'd like to post a few pictures of friends that we are thinking about and praying for. These two ladies have been very active in the Zona Oeste church that we helped start. Elvira (the lady in the middle) helped from the very beginning when the church met in our house in 1988. Adelia, the lady on the right has been a very good friend and neighbor ever since we moved to Tucuman in 1989.

While on a Sunday drive in Chicago we stopped at this park on Lake Michigan. Too cold for a swim though....

What a change from 90 degree weather in Argentina! That snowman looks pretty lifelike. :-)
